Finding time and energy for sewing with two little boys, an exhausting pregnancy, and a house on the market has been difficult. I usually say “no” to the sewing impulse just to keep the house in tip-top shape in case we need to show it at the last minute. But sometimes my urge to nest and create little girl things is too strong! I’ve got a pile of projects cut out and a few items checked off my list.
I’m trying to use all free tutorials/patterns and fabric I already have. We’ll be buying enough clothes for this little one, if I can make some free ones all the better!
We’ve got this sweet little peasant dress
(Leftover fabric from a quilt I made my sister-in-law for her wedding).
I’ve also made some baby leggings from old pajama pants that I didn’t want or need any more.
And let’s not forget the boys! I have had some knit fabric on hand for a year or more and finally decided to make a pair of pajamas for Parker, since he still doesn’t fit very well into store bought pjs!
I’ve also got these cloth diaper prefolds all prepped to make some girly burp cloths –
an essential item if this girl is anything like her brothers!
I’ve also picked up the knitting needles again.
Something that’s much neater and more transportable than sewing.
I’ve spent a lot of time in doctor’s offices and knitting is a good fit with that waiting room!
I’ve made very few purchases for our little girl, but sometimes I can’t help myself.
This memory baby book is my absolute favorite thing so far.
It’s so cute and stylish and I love filling it out, dreaming about reading through it with our little girl one day. Now if I could just figure out where she’ll go when she gets here I could prep her room and get a quilt going!
