Our house was not very pretty when we bought it. In fact, it was pretty darn ugly. We were smitten with the charm and feel of our old home. The structure and beautiful wood floors were reminiscent of the 20′s (the decade in which it was built), but the wood paneling and wall [...]  There is a dry basement! There are walls! There are doors! There is paint! There is light! There is tile! There is a laundry room sink cabinet, and functioning washer and dryer! Yes, there has been much progress!! Hopefully [...] I think there may finally be light at the end of the tunnel, er, basement. We finally have a solution to our water problem and are confident (until the next rainstorm, you know I’ll be running down there!) that our walls should keep water out instead of letting it all in! Basically, we have a [...] I think my husband and I might be a little crazy. (Well, actually, I know we are pretty much certifiably crazy in some ways.) But really. After being homeowners for just one year we’ve redone our porch, living room, dining room, kitchen, bedroom 1, bedroom 2, hall, office, all our lighting and electrical, garden, and [...] Short of a a few paint touch-ups, installing our new lighting, and adding the window treatments, our little porch project is complete! We really love the result and I know we’ll be spending a lot of time out here as a family. Having an enclosed front porch is so much fun. It’s temperate, bug-free, and yet it still feels [...] We’ve made some significant progress on our front porch project. Yay! I have to say, it is a pleasure to work on just one room at a time rather than a whole house renovation. And it is so much more enjoyable to paint and go up and down ladders while not being pregnant.
